There is nothing quite like going out golfing with friends and then rounding it off with a few cold ones afterwards. Although you are largely at the mercy of the elements when you venture outside, in our experience, there are definitely golf accessories you can pack and bring along to vastly improve your golfing experience. Read on for our full list of essentials.

At EgoliGolf we are all about making your golf break dream a reality, so in the spirit of successfully organising golf trips, here is a checklist. It covers a range of “must-haves” as well as other optional items that might make your next round of golf more enjoyable.

Golfing Essentials
  • Clubs
  • Golf Balls
  • Tees
  • Coins or Markers
  • Golf Gloves
  • A pair of comfortable golf shoes for walking (With all the walking you might have to do, it’s definitely important to make sure you have the right pair of golf shoes on your feet!)
  • Extra Spikes
  • Spike Tool
  • Divot Tool
  • Towels (one dry and perhaps also one damp/moist one for warmer climates)
  • Energy Drinks/Water (a no-brainer on a hot day really)
  • Hat, Cap, or Visor
  • Sunglasses
  • Range Finder/Distance Finder
  • Energy Snack (Fruit, Nuts, Trail Mix, Energy Bars, etc.)
  • Club Bonnet
  • Wallet/Purse
  • Cash
  • Credit Card
  • Driver’s License/ID
  • Any relevant Membership Cards
General Golf Accessories
  • Drawstring Bag for personal items/valuables (wallet, keys, cell phone, watch, etc.)
  • A Sharpie Marker or a specific Golf Ball Marker
  • Pencil or Pen
  • Business Cards (you never know where your next business or networking opportunity might arrive)
  • Compact First Aid Kit (keeps plasters and insect repellants handy and saves you from having to go all the way back to the clubhouse)
  • Stroke Counter
  • Rain Gear (this could be rain clothes, a poncho or even an umbrella)
  • A rain bonnet for your club or bag.
  • Ball Retriever
  • Sweater
  • Jacket

“Nice to haves”
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • An extra pair of socks (not a bad idea at all should you find yourself knee-deep in water when you are looking for your ball)
  • GPS watch (with a built-in step-counter and perhaps even smartphone alerts)
  • A power bank for your mobile phone.

A final word of advice. At Egoligolf we are all about organisation and helping your South African golf break come true. Our final word of advice would be to just bear in mind how much you are actually packing: You don’t want to make your golf bag too heavy or hard to manage!
